Brian Ford is a San Francisco native with over 20 years experience fabricating art and architectural elements for local artists, architects, and design firms. In 2009, out of a desire to bring his own designs and ideas to life, he established Metropolis Design, a full service design and build firm with the goal of  keeping the art of craft alive in an ever changing Bay Area.

Brian draws his inspiration from elements found in nature and science, the beauty of the industrial age and the simplicity of Asian and Modernist aesthetics. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UC Santa Cruz and has won numerous Best in Show awards for his sculpture. He has fabricated elements for Alice Waters and Michael Pollan's residences and his clients have included Alhorn-Hooven Design, Group 41 Architects, Kenneth Cole, the Lee Brothers of Namu Gaji Restaurant and Charles Bililies of Souvla.

For fifteen years Brian has been an independent contractor for the Long Now Foundation. He was the lead installation engineer on their 10,000 year clock project, installed in Texas.
